Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Limestone Saints in a 4-3 final on Tuesday evening.
The Warriors collected 13 hits in the evening match up against the Saints.
Zach O'Malley led the team with four hits with both
Chance Fogel and
Clifton Olmstead following with two hits apiece. Both Fogel and
Sean Sutay doubled, and Olmstead recorded his third home run of the season. Olmstead posted two of the four RBIs. Sutay walked twice.
Aaron Bennett started on the mound for the Warriors. Bennett pitched six innings while only allowing one run and striking out eight batters.
Beau Shaw and
Jacob Standridge came in to pitch in relief. Standridge picked up the win as he struck out four batters over 2.2 innings pitched.

How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan starter
Aaron Bennett and Limestone starter Barozzino went into a pitching dual to lead off the game as neither allowed a run until the bottom of the fifth inning. With the Warriors batting in the bottom of the fifth inning, first baseman
Clifton Olmstead drilled the ball deep over the left field wall to give the Warriors a 1-0 run advantage.
Limestone countered in the top of the sixth inning as a sacrifice fly out allowed Burroughs to come in and score to tie the game up. The Saints did not back down as they brought in two more runs to score in the top of the seventh inning.
The Warriors battled back in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Parker Pillsbury led off by reaching on an error. Pillsbury advanced to second as
Will Pitts hit the ball through the left side shift to put two runners on with no outs.
Zach O'Malley then knocked the ball through the right side to advance
Juan Garcia, pinch running for Pitts, to second and Pillsbury to third base. With the bases loaded,
DJ Ludwick singled to bring Pillsbury in to score.
Clifton Olmstead knocked the ball deep again, but this time the center fielder collected it for the out, but Garcia was able to come in and score to allow the Warriors to tie the game back up.
Sean Sutay was then intentionally walked to load the bases back up.
Ty King Richards hit a sacrifice fly out to center field to bring O'Malley in to score and give the Warriors a 4-3 run victory over the Saints.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Due West, SC on April 15-16 to take part in a three game series against the Erskine Flying Fleet. The Warriors will then return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on April 22-23 to host the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. They will remain at home on April 26 to host the Georgia College Bobcats in the final home game of the 2022 season.
