How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan starter Aaron Bennett and Limestone starter Barozzino went into a pitching dual to lead off the game as neither allowed a run until the bottom of the fifth inning.  With the Warriors batting in the bottom of the fifth inning, first baseman Clifton Olmstead drilled the ball deep over the left field wall to give the Warriors a 1-0 run advantage.

Limestone countered in the top of the sixth inning as a sacrifice fly out allowed Burroughs to come in and score to tie the game up.  The Saints did not back down as they brought in two more runs to score in the top of the seventh inning.

The Warriors battled back in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Parker Pillsbury led off by reaching on an error.  Pillsbury advanced to second as Will Pitts hit the ball through the left side shift to put two runners on with no outs.  Zach O'Malley then knocked the ball through the right side to advance Juan Garcia, pinch running for Pitts, to second and Pillsbury to third base.  With the bases loaded, DJ Ludwick singled to bring Pillsbury in to score.  Clifton Olmstead knocked the ball deep again, but this time the center fielder collected it for the out, but Garcia was able to come in and score to allow the Warriors to tie the game back up.  Sean Sutay was then intentionally walked to load the bases back up.  Ty King Richards hit a sacrifice fly out to center field to bring O'Malley in to score and give the Warriors a 4-3 run victory over the Saints.
