Murfreesboro, NC – Southern Wesleyan dropped the final two games against the Chowan Hawks on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors fell 11-0 in game one and 12-8 in the second game.
The Warriors had four hits in the first game of the day with both
Josh Galloway and
Ty King Richards having two hits.
Beau Shaw started the first game of the day and pitched 4.2 innings while striking out three batters.
Josh Fenton, Aiden Evans and
Cooper Davidson all came in to pitch in relief.
Southern Wesleyan recorded 11 hits in the second game of the afternoon. Four Warriors had two hits apiece.
Will Pitts,
Zach O'Malley,
Sean Sutay and
Clifton Olmstead all doubled in the loss to the Hawks.
Josh Galloway and
Ty King Richards led the team of two RBIs a piece. Southern Wesleyan walked seven times and both
Caden Cotton and Olmstead stole bases.
Jake Wisniewski started game two of the day and pitched two innings while striking out two batters.

How It Happened
Game One
Chowan shut down the Warriors offense in the first game of the day. The Hawks continued to press ahead with runs in the first, second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings to win the game in an 11-0 final score.
Game Two
The Warriors struck early in game two.
Will Pitts led off with a double down the left field line.
Chance Fogel followed with a walk. A single by
Josh Galloway allowed the Warriors to load up the bases.
Ty King Richards reached on a fielder's choice that took Galloway off the bases and brought Pitts in to score to give Southern Wesleyan a 1-0 run lead. With two outs, Chowan's pitcher balked to bring in the Warriors second run of the inning.
Chowan countered in the bottom of the second inning as a fielding error by third base allowed Krack to score to put the Hawks down 2-1.
Southern Wesleyan pushed further ahead in the top of the third inning.
Clifton Olmstead led off with a double to left center field.
Will Pitts then walked to put two runners on and bring
Chance Fogel up to bat. Fogel knocked the ball up the middle for a single that allowed Olmstead to come in and score. A passed ball allowed both Fogel and Pitts to advance ninety feet.
Josh Galloway then singled to right field to bring Pitts across home plate. A fielder's choice by
Ty King Richards took Galloway off the bases, but allowed Fogel to score to give the Warriors a 5-1 run lead.
The Hawks would not let up as they scored three more runs in the bottom of the third to put them within one of the Warriors. Chowan went on to score four more times in the bottom of the fourth and fifth innings to take a 10-5 run lead.
Southern Wesleyan challenged in the top of the sixth inning.
Zach O'Malley led off with a double down the left field line and then advanced to third on a ground out by
Caden Cotton.
Josh Asbill was hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners. A bunt single by
Sean Sutay brought O'Malley in to score to put the Warriors within four of the Hawks.
The Warriors continued to chip away at the Hawks lead in the top of the seventh inning. With one out,
Ty King Richards walked.
Caden Cotton then singled through the right side to advance King Richards to second base. A wild pitch and a throwing error allowed King Richards to come in and score.
Chowan brought two more runs to score in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Warriors continued to fight back as
Sean Sutay led off the top of the eighth with a walk. A singled to left field by
Clifton Olmstead allowed Sutay to advance to second base. With two outs, both Sutay and Olmstead advanced ninety feet.
Chance Fogel was then hit by a pitch to load up the bases. A sacrifice fly out by
Josh Galloway allowed Sutay to come in score. However, the Warriors were not able to pass the Hawks as Chowan took the 12-8 run victory.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on March 29 as they take on the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles in a double header. They will return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on April 1 and 2 to host the Francis Marion Patriots. The Warriors will then host the Anderson Trojans on April 5.
