Home Runs Not Enough to Push Warriors Ahead of Crusaders

Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell to the North Greenville Crusaders on Sunday afternoon in a 17-4 final score.
 
The Warriors collected seven hits in the third game against the Crusaders.  Zach O'Malley led the team with two hits on the day.  O'Malley, Josh Galloway and Caden Cotton all homered in the loss.  TJ McEvilly started on the mound for the Warriors and pitched five innings while striking out one batter.  Josh Fenton, Devyn Bond, Andrew Patterson and Ash Faulk all came in to pitch in relief.

How It Happened
 
North Greenville took the first run of the game on a home run by Gehrig Octavio.  The Warriors countered in the bottom of the inning.  Will Pitts led off the inning with a single to left field.  With two outs, Parker Pillsbury singled to third base to advance Pitts to second.  An error by the short stop allowed Jordan Montgomery to reach first and brought Pitts in to score to tie the game up at 1-1.
 
The Crusaders got back on top in the top of the second inning as a two run home run by Josh Senter allowed the North Greenville to take a 3-1 run lead over the Warriors.
 
North Greenville tacked on three more runs in the top of the third inning.  However, Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the third inning.  With one out, Zach O'Malley and Josh Galloway hit back to back home runs to put the Warriors down 6-3.
 
Home runs by Corey Bivins and Marek Chlup allowed the Crusaders to take a six run lead over the Warriors.  North Greenville scored once again as Tanner Wells hit a home run down the left field line.  North Greenville continued to push ahead to take a 17-3 run advantage.
 
The Warriors challenge in the bottom of the ninth inning as Caden Cotton drilled a home run over the left center field wall.  However, the Crusaders swept the series as they took game three in a 17-4 final.
 
 
 
What's Next
 
Southern Wesleyan will next travel to Milledgeville, GA on March 22 to take on the Georgia College Bobcats at 3 p.m.  They will remain on the road on March 25 and 26 as they travel up to Murfreesboro, NC to face the Chowan Hawks in Conference Carolinas action.  The Warriors will then travel to Toccoa Falls, GA on March 29 to play the Toccoa Falls Screaming Eagles in a double header beginning at 2:30 p.m.  Southern Wesleyan will return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on April 1 and 2 to host the Francis Marion Patriots.
