Pembroke, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in the final two games against the UNC Pembroke Braves on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors fell in game one in an 8-1 final and then in game two 8-4.
The Warriors had five hits in the first game with
Will Pitts leading the team with two.
Jordan Montgomery had the lone RBI for the Warriors. Southern Wesleyan walked two times and
Josh Galloway was hit by a pitch.
Parker Pillsbury started the first game of the day and pitched two innings.
Beau Shaw and
Ash Faulk came in to pitch in relief. Shaw led the team with three strike outs.
Southern Wesleyan collected 13 hits in the second game of the afternoon. Four Warriors had two hits in the game. Both
DJ Ludwick and
Caden Cotton doubled in the game, and Jsoh Asbill had a triple. Asbill led the team with two of the four RBIs of the game. Southern Wesleyan walked three times and
Chance Fogel had a stolen base.
Jacob Standridge started the second game and pitched four innings and struck out three batters.
Aaron Bennett,
Devyn Bond and
Sandy Johnson pitched in relief. Bennet collected three strikeouts.

How It Happened
Game One
The Braves took an early lead in the first game of the afternoon as they brought three runs in to score. They pushed further ahead in the bottom of the second and fifth innings.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the sixth inning. With one out,
Josh Galloway reached first on a muffed throw by the first baseman.
Will Pitts then singled to shortstop to advance Galloway to second. With two runners on base,
Jordan Montgomery singled up the middle to bring Galloway in and put the Warriors within six of the Braves.
UNC Pembroke brought one more run in to give the Braves an 8-1 run victory.
Game Two
UNC Pembroke led off with a home run in the bottom of the first inning off the bat of Hammonds.
Southern Wesleyan countered in the top of the third inning.
Dawson Posick led off the inning with reaching first by being hit by a pitch.
DJ Ludwick then doubled down the right field line to advance Posick to third base. With runners on the corners,
Chance Fogel singled to left field to bring Posick in to score to tie the game up.
The Braves pushed further ahead on runs in the bottom of the third, fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.
DJ Ludwick led off the top of the seventh with a single to center field. A fielder's choice took Ludwick off the base pads, but allowed
Chance Fogel to reach first.
Will Pitts singled to left field to advance Fogel to second.
Josh Asbill drilled a triple to left center to bring both Fogel and Pitts home to score.
Sean Sutay put down a bunt single to bring Asbill home. However, the Braves went on to win the game in an 8-4 run final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain on the road on February 23 as they travel to Anderson, SC to take on the Anderson Trojans at 4 p.m. The Warriors will return to Dr. C Keith Connor Field on February 25-26 as they host the Barton Bulldogs. They will then travel to Dahlonega, GA to take on the University of North Georgia Nighthawks.
