How It Happened

Barton struck first in the game as they brought six runs in to score in the top of the first and third innings.

Southern Wesleyan countered in the bottom of the fourth inning.  Will Pitts led off with a walk and then advanced to second on a ground out by Jordan Montgomery.  With one out, Ty King Richards reached on an error that allowed Pitts to advance to third base.  Josh Asbill then singled to right field to bring Pitts in to score to put the Warriors down 6-1 to the Bulldogs.  Sean Sutay laid down a bunt single to bring Ty King Richards home to put the Warriors within four runs of the Bulldogs.

However, Barton fought back as they regained their six run advantage in the top of the fifth innings.  They continued to distance themselves from the Warriors as they plated five more runs in the top of the sixth.

The Warriors would not go down quietly as they battled back in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Jordan Montgomery led off the inning with a single up the middle.  Back-to-back walks to Ty King Richards and Josh Asbill loaded up the bases for Sean Sutay.  Sutay hit into a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring Montgomery across home plate.  Caden Cotton then walked to load the bases back up.  Clifton Olmstead, pinch hitting for DJ Ludwick, hit a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring King Richards home.  A wild pitch then allowed Asbill to come home and advanced Cotton to third base.  Zach O'Malley followed with a walk.  A second wild pitch allowed Cotton to come in to score, and then a passed ball allowed O'Malley to advance to third.  With O'Malley ninety feet from home, Dylan Carter reached on a fielding error by the first baseman to allow O'Malley to come in and put the Warriors down 13-7 to the Bulldogs.

Barton continued the pressure as they scored seven more times to win the game in a 20-7 final score.
