Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan fell in the final two games of the series to the Newberry Wolves in 10-1 and 10-5 final scores.
The Warriors collected eight hits in the first game of the afternoon. Both
DJ Ludwick and
Josh Galloway recorded two hits apiece.
Will Pitts had a double during the game.
Zach O'Malley had the lone RBI of the game for Southern Wesleyan.
Parker Pillsbury started the first game of the day and pitched four innings while striking out three batters.
Ash Faulk,
Josh Fenton and
Beau Shaw all came in to pitch in relief. Fenton struck out two batters.
Southern Wesleyan collected seven hits in the second game of the afternoon with both
Chance Fogel and
Ty King Richards leading the team with two hits.
Jordan Montgomery doubled and
Zach O'Malley had a home run. Both
DJ Ludwick and O'Malley had RBIs during the game. The Warriors walked four times and
Chance Fogel had a stolen base. TJ McEvilley started the second game and pitched five innings while striking out one batter.
Jacob Standridge,
Jake Wisniewski and
Sandy Johnson came in to pitch in relief. Wisniewski led the team with three strike outs.

How It Happened
Game One
The Wolves brought four runs in to score in the second inning to kick off the game. Newberry continued to push ahead with runs in the fourth, fifth and sixth inning.
Southern Wesleyan cut into Newberry's lead in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two out,
Will Pitts reached base by being hit by a pitch.
Juan Garcia came in to pinch run for Pitts.
Chance Fogel then singled to advance Garcia to second.
Ty King Richards was hit by a pitch to load up the bases. When
Zach O'Malley was hit by a pitch, Garcia came in to score to put the Warriors down by eight runs.
Newberry went on to win game one in a 10-1 final.
Game Two
Newberry took an early 4-0 lead with runs scored in the first, second and third innings. However, Southern Wesleyan fought back in the bottom of the fourth inning. With two outs,
Chance Fogel singled through the right side.
Zach O'Malley homered to right field to bring Fogel in to score and put the Warriors within two runs of the Wolves.
The Wolves were not discouraged as they brought in six more runs combined during the fifth and seventh innings.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Warriors struck again. With one out,
Zach O'Malley reached first by getting hit by a pitch, and then advanced to second base on a passed ball.
Jordan Montgomery was then hit by a pitch. A walk to Ty King Richard loaded up the bases and brought
DJ Ludwick up to back. Ludwick singled down the left field line to bring both Montgomery and O'Malley in to score and put the Warriors down 10-4.
The Warriors struck again in the bottom of the ninth.
Jordan Montgomery led off with a double down the right field line. A ground out by
Ty King Richards advanced Montgomery to third base. With two out, a passed ball allowed Montgomery to come in to score. However, the Warriors fell to the Wolves in the end in a 10-5 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will remain at home on February 15 as they welcome the Truett-McConnell Bears to Dr. C Keith Connor Field for a 3 p.m. first pitch. They will then open up Conference Carolinas action on the road as they travel to Pembroke, NC to take on the UNC Pembroke Braves on February 18-19. Southern Wesleyan will then travel to Anderson, SC on February 23 to take on the Anderson Trojans.
