How It Happened

The Bears took the first run of the game in the top of the first inning.  Southern Wesleyan tied the game up in the bottom of the second.  Josh Asbill led off with a walk and then stole second base.  With Asbill in scoring position and one out, Zach O'Malley singled to right field to advance Asbill to third.  Jordan Montgomery singled through the left side to allow Asbill to come in to score and tie the game up.

Southern Wesleyan kept up the intensity in the bottom of the third inning.  An error by the shortstop allowed DJ Ludwick to reach first base and then advance to second.  Chance Fogel then doubled down the right field line to bring Ludwick in and allow the Warriors to take the lead.  With Fogel on second, Josh Galloway hit a home run deep over the left field wall to extend the Warriors lead to 4-1.  With one out, Will Pitts singled through the left side.  A single by Zach O'Malley put runners on the corners.  A wild pitch then allowed Pitts to come home.  Jordan Montgomery singled through the right side to bring O'Malley in and give the Warriors a 6-1 run advantage.

Truett-McConnell cut the Warriors lead in half in the top of the fourth inning as they brought two more runs in to score.

The Warriors pushed further ahead in the bottom of the fourth inning.  With one out, DJ Ludwick singled through the left side and then stole second base.  A single by Chance Fogel allowed Ludwick to advance to third base.  Josh Galloway knocked a single through the left side to advance Fogel to third and bring Ludwick home.  With two outs, Will Pitts walked to load up the bases.  A second walk to Zach O'lMalley brought Fogel home to extend their lead to 8-3.

The Bears challenged again in the top of the fifth to bring two more runs in to score, but the Warriors continued to extend their lead in the bottom of the inning.  Sean Sutay led off the bottom of the fifth with a single to center field.  Walks to Ty King Richards and DJ Ludwick loaded up the bases for Chance Fogel.  Fogel drilled a single to left center to bring both King Richards and Sutay in to score.  Josh Galloway walked to load the bases up once again.  A wild pitch allowed Ludwick to come in and score and advanced both Galloway and Fogel ninety feet.  With one out, Will Pitts hit a sacrifice fly to center field to bring Fogel home and give the Warriors a 12-5 run lead.

The Bears continued to threaten as they scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning.  However, Devyn Bond and Aaron Bennett were able to come in to pitch in relief to keep Truett-McConnell from tying the game up.  Southern Wesleyan won the game in a 12-9 final score.
