Men's Match
Southern Wesleyan took the doubles point against the Tornado.
Jonas Grasmuck and
Sarvesh Maria defeated Alex Sodre and Andre Schiabel 6-1. The Tornado challenged in the #2 Doubles match, but
Enzo Marcheschi and
Peter Kovats ended up on top in a 6-3 final.
In singles play, the Warriors took all but one match-up.
Jonas Grasmuck took the No. 1 Singles match in a pair of 6-1 finishes.
Peter Kovats and
Julio Lopes Polesi each won their sets in 6-2 and 6-3 final scores.
Joseph Olatunji defeated Kyle Robinson 6-2 and 6-0.
Sarvesh Maria challenged in the No. 2 Singles match. Maria dropped the first set, before capturing a 6-4 victory in the second. In the final set, Maria challenged, but Andre Schiabel of King won out in a 10-8 final.
Women's Match
In doubles play,
Ameek Batth and
Anya King took down Smorgonsky and Roustand in a 6-1 final. The Warriors maintained the offensive in singles play. King defeated Smorgonsky 8-2, and
Maria Aspasia Kotsiou defeated Roustand 8-5. Southern Wesleyan took the rest of the doubles and singles points by defeat.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will next compete in the Men's and Women's Conference Carolinas Championship. The Tournament will take place at the Palmetto Tennis Complex in Sumter, SC from April 23 and 25.
