How It Happened

The Warriors put runs on the board early on in the game.  Ty King Richards led off the first inning for the Warriors with a singled through the right side.  He then advanced to second when Timo Schau grounded out.  With King Richards in scoring position, Parker Pillsbury walked.  Jarred Jones walked to load the bases and bring Dawson Posick up to bat.  Posick singled through the left side, bringing both King Richards and Pillsbury in to give Southern Wesleyan a 2-0 lead.

Notre Dame fought back in the fourth inning.  The Falcons fought around the Warriors defense, plating six runs before TJ McEvilly was about to strikeout the side to end the top of the fourth.

Southern Wesleyan began to chip away at the Notre Dame lead in the bottom of the eighth inning.  Parker Pillsbury led off by being hit by a pitch.  Pillsbury moved to third on a double to right field by Tanner Glass.  With both Pillsbury and Glass in scoring position, Jarred Jones drilled a double to center field to bring both in and put the Warriors down 4-8.  Dawson Posick followed with a triple to bring Jones in to score.  Sawyer Price grounded out to shortstop to bring Posick in and put the Warriors down 6-8.

The Falcons brought in two more runs in the top of the ninth, but that did not discouraged the Warriors.  Ty King Richards kicked off the final inning with a single to second base and then advanced to second a single by Timo Schau.  With two on, Parker Pillsbury walked to load up the bases.  Tanner Glass hit a sacrifice fly to right field to bring King Richards in and put the Warriors down 10-7.  Jarred Jones doubled and then advanced to third on an error.  His double brought Schau and Pillsbury in.  However, that ended the Warriors run as they dropped the first game of the series 10-9.
