Warriors Defeat the Tigers in First Match of the Season

Sumter, S.C. - Southern Wesleyan defeated the Benedict Tigers in a 5-2 final on Saturday.

How It Happened

The Warriors went 3-0 in doubles action. Sarvesh Maria and Jonas Grasmuck defeated Taj Ballantyne and Julius Mutetwa in a 7-6 final. Julio Polesi and Enzo Marcheschi defeated Mark Chikazarra and Batsiari Saurambe in a 7-6 final and Joseph Olatunji and Fabian Segreda defeated Nikolu Aleksic and Jaylon Bukknight in a 6-1 final. 

In singles action, the Warriors went 4-2 on Saturday. Sarvesh Maria defeated Mark Chikazarra in a 3-6, 6-4, and 6-4 final. Jonas Grasmuck defeated Batsiari Saurambe in a 6-1 and 6-1 final. Joseph Olatunji challenged, but fell to Julius Mutetwa 4-6, 6-4, and 4-6. Enzo Marcheschi defeated Nikolu Aleksic in a 6-7, 6-1, and 6-4 final. Julio Polesi fell to Taj Ballantyne 0-6 and 3-6 and Cole Farren defeated Jaylon Bukknight in a 6-2 and 6-0 final.

 

What's Next

Southern Wesleyan will travel to play the Coker Cobras on February 6 at 3 p.m. They will then travel to play the Brevard Tornado on February 11 at 3 p.m.
