Box Score 2 Central, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan fell in the doubleheader versus King in the first conference games of the season on Friday evening in 8-2 and 3-2 final scores.
Lexi Thompson had the lone hit for the Warriors in game one versus King University. Megan New and Amber Belk scored the two runs for the Warriors. Lucy Wolff was the starting pitcher for Southern Wesleyan and went 4.1 innings before relief pitcher Josie Edwards closed out the last 2.2 innings.
Six Warriors had hits in game two of the doubleheader. Becca White led Southern Wesleyan with two, and four Warriors had doubles during the game. Lexi Thompson and Amber Belk scored the two runs for the Warriors. Hunter Hoskins pitched all seven innings.

How It Happened
Game One
The Tornado took an early 8-0 lead and held it until the bottom of the fifth inning. Megan New reached on a fielder's choice and then advanced to second as Amber Belk drew a walk. Kali Berrigan reached on an error by the third baseman and loaded the bases. Becca White reached on an error by the shortstop and New scored to put the Warriors on the board. The bases remained loaded and a walk from Hunter Hoskins scored Belk to put the game at 8-2 before the inning ended.
King was able to hold the Warriors and went on to win game one.
Game Two
The Tornado struck first again in the second game to take a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning. The Warriors countered in the bottom of the sixth inning to gain the lead. Lexi Thompson led with a double and then advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt from Maddie Ward. Makaila Irby doubled, and Thompson scored to tie the game at 1-1. Amber Belk pinch ran for Irby and scored on an error from the pitcher to give the Warriors a 2-1 lead going into the top of the seventh.
The Warriors were unable to hold the Tornado as they went on the win the game 3-2.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will remain at home to face the Lees-McRae Bobcats on Saturday, March 17 at 1 and 3 p.m. The Warriors will then travel to Limestone to take on the Saints on Thursday, March 22 at 2 and 4 p.m.
