Brevard, NC – Southern Wesleyan defeated the Brevard College Tornados in an 8-1 final on Saturday afternoon.
How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan went 3-0 in doubles action on Saturday. Daniel Bolivar and Joseph Olatunji shut down the Tornados 8-0. Urs Widow and Siggy Menzel allowed the Tornados one point, but one the set 8-1. The team of Stan Grezslo and Sam Bakker took down the Tornados team of Tim Heiqst and Will Chrstiansen 8-3.
In singles play, the Warriors went 5-1 against the Tornados. Daniel Bolivar, Joseph Olatunji and Ben Smith each one their matches in 6-0 scores. Sam Bakker defeated Chrstiansen 7-5 and 6-1, and Sigg Menzel won his sets 6-1 and 6-2. Urs Widow and Tom Miltring each won one set in their match to force a tie breaker. However, Widow fell 10-6 in the end.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will return to their home court on February 9 to take on the Benedict College Tigers at 3 p.m. They will then travel to Mars Hill to take on the Lions on February 10.
