Warriors Down Flying Fleet

Due West, S.C. – Warriors defeat Flying Fleet in Conference Carolinas action on Monday evening in a 9-0 final.

Match Vitals

Final: Southern Wesleyan 9, Erskine 0

Record: Southern Wesleyan (7-10 / CC 4-5), Erskine (2-16 / CC 2-8)

Coach Jernigan Says...

"Guys played great today. Started off sluggish in doubles so had to challenge them going into singles play and they responded. We cannot get too comfortable because we can lose our edge. They went into singles with the proverbial chip on the shoulder and really set the tone early. Proud of them and now we can turn our focus toward Emmanuel College."

How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan swept every match in both singles and doubles action on Monday against Erskine.  Urs Widow and Harry Reed defeated the Flying Fleet team of Poncho Caballero and Tyler Burgess in an 8-0 final.  Camilo Sandoval and Daniel Boliver won their set 8-3, and Keegan Barkley and Stan Grzeslo took theirs 8-4.

Urs Widow, Stan Grzeslo, Keegan Barkley and Jacob Chesney all took wins in their singles sets with 6-1 and 6-0 victories over their opponents.  The Flying Fleet's Ross Edgar challenged Daniel Bolivar, but Bolivar held on to take a 6-0 and 6-4 victory over Edgar.  Due to Flying Fleet's Ritwik Bhriguvanshi retiring during his and Camilo Sandoval's match, Sandoval won the final set for the Warriors' singles action.
