Warriors Win Second Match of the Season

Central, S.C. – Warriors won their first home match of their Spring season against the Brevard College Tornados on Saturday afternoon 6-3.

Coach Jernigan Says…

"Really proud of the guys today. Knew coming into match that Brevard had a tough team and we knew we would have to compete for every point. From top to bottom today we were all on the same page and it showed. We went 2-0 this weekend which is great but now we turn our attention to Lenoir-Rhyne next Saturday."

 

How It Happened

The Warriors won two of the three sets in doubles action first.  Camilo Sandoval and Daniel Bolivar took the first set of the match 8-2, followed by Urs Widow and Harry Reed with a 9-7 win against the Tornado team.  Keegan Barkley and Stan Grzeslo fell in their double match against the Tornados 8-3.

In singles competition, the Warriors took four out of the six matches of the afternoon.  Stan Grzeslo won the first set in singles for the Warriors with scores of 6-4 and 6-3.  Grzeslo was followed by Camilo Sandoval with a win over Tornados Tom Mitting with scores of 6-2 and 6-2.  Daniel Bolivar (6-3 and 7-6(3)) and Harry Reed (2-6, 6-3, 6-4) each gave the Warriors a point with wins to finish up the matches.

 

What's Next

The Warriors will travel to Lenoir-Rhyne on February 11 and then to Anderson on February 15.  They will then return to Southern Wesleyan for their next three matches against Mars Hill, Mount Olive and Barton.
