Box Score CANTON, OHIO- Paige O'Connor and Sarah Hughey combined for 46 kills, but it was not enough as Southern Wesleyan fell 3-2 to Notre Dame (Ohio) in their third game at the Hall of Fame City Challenge.
O'Connor led the team with 25 kills and also had 11 digs. Hughey recorded 21 kills and six digs. Annika Jones had 62 assists, three kills, and three digs.
The Falcons (1-3) took the first set 25-23 and the Warriors (0-3) took the second set 25-21. Notre Dame had a .433 hitting percentage in the third set compared to a .171 hitting percentage for Southern Wesleyan as they won the set 25-15. The Warriors won the fourth set 25-23 to send the match to the fifth set.
The Falcons started the fifth set on 13-7 run. The Warriors scored seven consecutive points to take a 14-13 lead. Notre Dame tied the game on the next point at 14-14. Hughey recorded a kill on the next point to give Southern Wesleyan a 15-14 lead and set point. The Falcons scored the next two points to take a 16-15 lead. The Warriors tied the game again on a kill by Hughey at 16-16. Notre Dame closed out the match by scoring two consecutive points to take the set 18-16.
