Box Score CENTRAL, S.C.- Senior Chelsie Waters tied her career-high with 26 points as she helped Southern Wesleyan defeated Pfeiffer 77-67 on Senior Night.
Waters shot 9-of-14 from the field and 8-of-10 from the free throw line and also dished out four assists, had four steals, and three rebounds. Noelle van Zadelhoff posted her sixth double-double of the season as she scored 17 points, pulled in 12 rebounds, blocked four shots. Aneysa Williams scored 12 points and dished out four assists.
The Warriors (5-23, 2-20 CC) opened up the game with a 13-12 run to lead after the first quarter. They stretched their lead to 12 points by outscoring the Falcons (8-18, 7-15 CC) 22-11 in the second quarter.
Pfeiffer cut the deficit to nine points as they scored 22 points in the third quarter. They were able to cut the lead to three points at the 1:52 mark with a 19-13 run in the fourth quarter. That would be the closest that they would get as Southern Wesleyan outscored them 10-3 the rest of the way to send the seniors off with a win in the final game of their careers.
"I am extremely happy for our team tonight," said Warriors Head Coach John Davis, "For us to play like we did and being able to honor our seniors Chelsie Waters and Kelsey Wheatle was special. We played a good first half and answered Pfeiffer's run in the second half. This team earned this result tonight."
Waters finishes her career with 1,007 points, 352 assists, 286 rebounds, and 170 steals.
"For Chelsie to go out like she did was perfect," said Davis, "She scored her 1,000th career point and led this team. She has been the epitome of a student-athlete at Southern Wesleyan during her four years. I am so thankful to have coached her these last four years. She has left her mark on Southern Wesleyan women's basketball."
