How It Happened

The Lions went on the offensive early on as Lizzie Teasley put up a three pointer.  Emmanuel kept the Warriors off the board for the first five minutes of the opening quarter.  A three pointer out of the hands of Kyra Price put the Warriors on the board.  Southern Wesleyan battled back to within three points of Emmanuel as Trinity Nesbitt laid the ball up into the basket.

Trinity Nesbitt attacked the basket early in the second quarter as she laid the ball up into the basket.  However, the Lions continued to press as Natalee Goff hit a three pointer.  Danielle Earley sent the ball out beyond the arc to Makayla Raines.  Raines took a step back and knocked down a three pointer.  Emmanuel extended their lead to eight as Naomi Robert and Goff put up back-to-back threes.  A layup by Nesbitt put the Warriors behind the Lions 26-20 at halftime.

Some fouls by the Warriors early in the third quarter allowed both Hannah Harris and Natalee Goff to make free throws.  Makayla Raines answered with a mid-range basket.  With just over five minutes on the clock, Raines sunk another three pointer.  Harris passed the ball over to Kate Jackson and put up a mid-range shot for Emmanuel.  Southern Wesleyan would not back down as Peyton Looky and Savanna Nicholson each sunk three pointers.

Julie Azeltine laid the ball up into the basket to kick off the final quarter of the game.  Emmanuel would not relent as they took a seventeen point lead on back-to-back three pointers by Naomi Roberts and Julie Azeltine.  Danielle Earley wove around the Lions defense and laid the ball up into the basket.  With just over four minutes on the clock, Azeltine stole the ball away from the Warriors and sent it down the court to Roberts.  Roberts hit a mid-range to extend the Lions lead.  Southern Wesleyan got up a couple more shots, but the Lions won the game in a 62-41 final.
