Warriors Win First Match of the Season Against the Tigers

PENDLETON, S.C.- Southern Wesleyan's men's tennis team won its first match of the season as it defeated Benedict 8-1.

The Warriors (1-5) went 5-1 in singles play and 3-0 in doubles play.

In singles competition, Camilo Sandoval defeated Takudswa Muswere 6-1, 3-3 at the No. 1, Daniel Zapata defeated Nathanial Pinkey 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 2, Stan Grzeslo defeated Zibusiso Ndimande 8-3 at the No. 3, Harry Reed defeated Justin Payton 8-4 at the No. 5, and Keegan Barkley defeated Juan Hernandez 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 6. Quentin Eloise defeated Urs Widow 4-6, 6-4, and 1-0 at the No. 4.

In doubles competition, Sandoval/Zapata defeated Muswere/Ndimande 8-6 at the No. 1, Grzeslo/Widow defeated Pinkey/Eloise 8-6 at the No. 2, and Barkley/Reed defeated Payton/Hernandez 8-0 at the No. 3.

Southern Wesleyan next plays their first Conference Carolinas match of the season as they host King tomorrow Feb. 20 at 1 p.m.
