Warriors Fall in Second Nationals Match

Paige O'Connor contributes with 11 kills in the loss to Campbellsville University.

Campbellsville University struck first, but a block by Annika Jones tied the game 1-1.  However, Campbellsville University scored nine consecutive points after that, taking a 10-1 lead over the Warriors.  A kill by Katie Anderson gave the Warriors a second point on the board.  Campbellsville pulled ahead 19-4.  Kills by Paige O'Connor, Kendall Vallancourt, Jenna Karel, Katie Anderson and Shelby Sheets allowed the Warriors to put more points on the board and make the score 11-23.  Despite their late kills, Campbellsville University pulled ahead of the Warriors to win the first set 25-11.

The Warriors struck first in the second set of the evening, taking a 2-0 lead after kills by O'Connor and Karel.  Campbellsville countered to put two points on the match before the Warriors pulled ahead to take a 4-3 lead.  The lead was short lived as Campbellsville scored eight consecutive points to give them an 11-4 lead over the Warriors.  Southern Wesleyan University fought back to make the score 19-24, but an attack error allowed Campbellsville to take the second set 25-19.

Campbellsville University scored four consecutive points in the third set before a kill by Paige O'Connor put the Warriors on the board.  Despite their kill, Campbellsville University regained control of the match and took a 3-9 lead.  The Warriors were not going to go down without a fight with kills by O'Connor and Katie Anderson to bring Southern Wesleyan within three points.  Despite the rally, Campbellsville University took the third set 25-16 and win the match 3-0.

Annika Jones contributes with 22 assists.  Katie Anderson and Anna Hughey combine for 22 digs in the loss.  The loss for the Warriors makes them 15-14 and 12-4 in Conference Carolina play for the season.  Campbellsville University is now 29-12 and 10-4.  The Warriors will next play on December 2 at 12 pm where they will take on Cincinnati Christian.
