Warriors Lose to Emmanuel in Overtime

Box Score

Warriors lose 2-1 in overtime against the Emmanuel College Lions.

The Lions attacked first in the game against Southern Wesleyan.  In the 13th minute of play, Emmanuel's Martin Mitreski scored a goal with an assist by Channing Park.  By half time, the Warriors still had not rallied against the rival team.

That did not stop the Warriors, however.  After 88 minutes of play, the Warriors finally put a goal on the board.  Michel Herszenhaut, assisted by Sam Rowden, scored the goal, which makes his 8th goal of the season.  With the goal by Herszenhaut, the game was tied, forcing the Warriors and Lions into overtime.  The Warriors fought hard, but were unable to hold back the Lions, as they scored three minutes into the overtime period.

Miguel Uribe compiled two saves in the loss.  Even though they lost, the Warriors were able to put 6 shots on goal on the board.  The loss makes Southern Wesleyan's record become 7-6 in the season and 3-4 in Conference Carolinas play.  The Lions of Emmanuel College become 7-5 and 4-2 in Conference.

The Warriors will next travel to King on Wednesday, October 19 before returning home on October 22 where they will take on the North Greenville University Crusaders for Southern Wesleyan University's Homecoming weekend.
