How It Happened

Southern Wesleyan put up an early attack as a free kick allowed Luis Lezama to put up a shot.  However, his shot ricochetted off the post to prevent the Warriors from taking the early lead.  The Hawks answered with an attack off the foot of Isaiah Johnson, but it sailed just past the net.  Alex Hernandez looked to find the net, but Jonah Keoughan was there to keep the Hawks off the board.  The Warriors went on the attack once again, but the Hawks blocked Jacob Zuniga's shot on the goal.  Luis Lezama sent a free kick into the box with just under twenty eight minutes on the clock.  Lezama's cross found Josiah Pitts who got it into the net to put the Warriors on top.  Southern Wesleyan pushed on as Zuniga and Leonardo Flores put up shots, but the Hawks got in the way of each attack to prevent Southern Wesleyan from extending on their lead.

The Warriors looked to extend their lead ten minutes into the first half as Jacob Zuniga put up a shot, but his shot just sailed high of the net.  Shorter answered as they went on the attack, but Southern Wesleyan's defensive line knocked the ball away and sent it back down the field.  Austin Cornett put up a shot on the goal, but Jonah Keoughan was able to collect the ball to prevent the Hawks from getting onto the board.  The Warriors were not done as Gabriel Halkett attempted a shot on the net, but the Hawks defensive line was able to block his attack.  With just under twenty minutes on the clock, a foul in the box allowed Leonardo Flores to go to the penalty mark.  Flores sent the ball into the back of the net to give the Warriors a 2-0 goal lead.  Southern Wesleyan persisted with their attacks as Aron Bjarki Kristjansson sent the ball in toward the goal, but Brallam Cux-Cuin was able to collect the ball.  Brody Schroeder broke away from the pack and attempted to put up a shot, but Cux-Cuin was there to block the shot on the goal.  Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game in a 2-0 shut out.
