MARS HILL, N.C.‑ Southern Wesleyan's men's tennis team fell 5-4 to Mars Hill.
The Warriors (0-2) went 2-4 in singles competition and 2-1 in doubles competition.
In singles play, Daniel Zapata defeated Markus Gattner 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 3 and Urs Widow defeated Alejandre Ozaki 7-6, 6-4 at the No. 6. Alberto Ortiz defeated Camilo Sandoval 7-5, 6-2 at the No. 1, Ben Reid defeated Stan Grzeslo 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 2, Carlos Riesco defeated Harry Reed at the No. 4, and Sam Lee defeated Keegan Barkley 6-3, 7-6 at the No. 5.
In doubles play, Sandoval/Zapata defeated Reid/Ortiz 8-4 at the No. 1, Gattner/Lee defeated Grzeslo/Widow 8-5 at the No. 2, and Barkley/Reed defeated Ozaki/Covington 9-7 at the No. 3.
Southern Wesleyan next hosts Anderson Feb. 6 at 1 p.m.
