Warriors Kick Off Season with a 1-0 Win

CENTRAL, S.C. - The Southern Wesleyan men's soccer team started off the season with a bang, defeating Bob Jones University 1-0 on Thursday night in front of a fun crowd at Childs Field. With the win, the Warriors move to 1-0 on the season while the Bruins fall to 1-1. 

The lone goal of the game and the first of the season for the Warriors came at the 34:24 mark off the foot of junior defender Sam Rowden. Goalkeeper Ruben Rodriguez played an excellent game in goal, recording five saves to lead the Warrior defense.

"This was a great way to start the season," head coach Camilo Rodriguez said. "It wasn't pretty, but we saw a lot of positives. We definitely saw some things we need to work's on. I have to tip my hat to Bob Jones. They never gave up and the game was tight until the final buzzer. Now, we have to look forward to our game on Saturday against Queens."
