Lions Defeat Warriors 4-1 on Tuesday Night

CENTRAL, S.C. - The Southern Wesleyan men's soccer team fell 4-1 at the hands of conference foe Emmanuel on Tuesday night at Childs Field. With the loss, Southern Wesleyan falls to 3-3-1 and 0-2-1 in Conference Carolinas. Emmanuel improves to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in conference play. 

Emmanunel scored four goals within 18 minutes to gain their large lead. 23 minutes into the game, Morgan Anders got the scoring stared for the Lions off a pass from teammate Craig Russell. Five minutes later, the Lions added another goal, this time off the foot of Martin Mitreski. In the 40th minute, Jordan Davis added a goal before teammate Ryan Elswick netted one of his own two minutes later off of a free kick. 

Marcelo Vargas scored his third goal of the season in the 73rd minute to close the gap on the Lions' lead. Christian Taylor picked up an assist on the play.

The Warriors outshot the Lions 19-7 and led in corner kicks 8-1. Ruben Rodriguez recorded one save in the loss. 

The Warriors return to action Saturday, Sept. 26 at 4 p.m. against Barton College. The game will be held at Southern Wesleyan's Childs Field and admission is free to the public.
