Warriors Drop 6-3 Decision to Emmanuel

CLEMSON, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's tennis dropped a 6-3 decision to conference rival Emmanuel on Friday afternoon at Nettles Park.

The Warriors picked up a win in doubles as Camilo Sandoval and Keegan Barkley improved to 1-4 on the year with an 8-1 victory over Lucas Pereira and David Forehand. The Warriors number three doubles unit of Jacob Chesney and Alex Ballenger came up just short, fallilng to Joaquin Marshall and Tyler Terrell 8-6.

Sandoval and Barkley each picked up a win in singles action but the bottom of the lineup couldn't keep up. Sandoval took down Pereira in three sets 6-1, 2-6, 6-4 to improve to 2-3 on the year. Barkley also was tested by Malejka at number two. Barkley took the first set 7-6 (6-4) before handling Malejka in the second, 6-0. For Barkley it was his first singles win of the year.

Jacob Chesney moved up to play at number three singles and dropped a tough three-setter. Chesney took the first in a tiebreak, 7-6 (7-5) before Joaquin Marshall took the final two sets 6-4, 6-0.

The Warriors are back in action on Saturday at Nettles Park as they host Erskine at 1:00 p.m.
