CLEMSON, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's tennis dropped their third straight match of the season, falling 9-0 to Mars Hill on Saturday at Nettles Park.
The Warriors battled the Lions but were unable to take a set in singles action. Camilo Sandoval forced a first set tiebreak before falling 7-6 (6-4) in the first set to Euqueiro Guerrero at No. 1 singles. Guerrero took the second set 6-2. Keegan Barkley suffered the loss at No. 2 singles, falling 6-4, 6-4 to Alberto Ortiz.
In doubles action the Warriors were turned back in all three matches as Sandoval and Barkley lost 8-5 to Guerrero and Sam Lee at the top doubles position. Loic Delaby and Matthew Plummer lost at No. 2 doubles 8-4 to Ortiz and Markus Gattner. That same score was the fate for Jacob Chesney and Alex Ballenger against Carlos Suares and Blake Covington at No. 3 doubles.
Chesney had the strongest showing in singles outside of the top two, falling 6-4, 6-0 to Suares in No. 4 action. Plummer fell 6-3, 6-0 to Gattner at No. 6 and Ballenger lost to Covington 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5. In No. 3 singles action Lee defeated Delaby 6-1, 6-0.
The Warriors are back in action next Saturday as they hit the road for a three-match stretch in Charlotte against Queens University.
