Second Half Haunts Warriors in Loss to Emmanuel

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan made just six field goals in the second half in losing a halftime lead and falling to Emmanuel 83-68 in a wild game on Saturday afternoon.

The Warriors led 45-33 at halftime after shooting nearly 56 percent in the first 20 minutes. Cameron Solomon scored 17 of his 26 points in the first half and Kenny Holmes added 10 of his 15.

SWU led for nearly 29 minutes of the game but after Cameron Solmon's free throws put SWU up 65-63 with 7:15 to play the Lions 10 of the next 11 points to take a 73-66 lead. The Warriors scored just two more points on a pair of free throws from Darius Sharpe the rest of the way. SWU was held without a field goal for the final 9:39, scoring just seven points on seven free throws.

Emmanuel shot 52 percent in the second half after shooting 43 percent in the first half. While the Warriors struggled at the free throw line for the game – 13 of 25 – the Lions made 22 of 28.

Michael Stanley led the Lions with 22 points and eight rebounds. Luke Miller added 12 points and Patrick McCrary and Johan Pennerat added 10 points each.

Dwayne Bryant added 10 points and 13 rebounds for the Warriors as Buster Walker chipped in with eight points and Mike Lieberman added seven.

The Warriors will close the regular season on Tuesday at North Greenville. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. SWU will play two exhibition contests against Bob Jones, the first coming on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Tysinger and the second set for next Saturday (2/28) in Greenville at 7 p.m.
