Warriors Turned Back by King

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan men's basketball suffered a 94-72 setback at the hands of King (Tenn.) on Saturday in Conference Carolinas action.

The Warriors shot 52 percent from the floor but made just 6 of 25 (24 percent) from long range. The Warriors also turned the ball over 13 times. King did not make a turnover all game and shot 47 percent fromt eh floor and 48 percent (22 of 46) from beyond the arc.

Logan Lyle scored 26 and made 8 of 12 from 3 point land to lead all scorers. Hunter LeVeau added four triples off the bench and 16 points. C.J. Good connected on half of his 10 attempts from long distance and scored 15.

The Warriors were led by Cameron Solomon's 19 points on 7 of 17 shooting. Solomon added five rebounds. Dwayne Bryant added 11 points and eight rebounds as Buster Walker scored 10 points and had six rebounds. Kenny Holmes scored six points and handed out seven assists.

SWU led 11-8 early on as Truston Whiteside scored two of his seven points on a tip-in just 4:09 into the contest. After a timeout by King, the Tornado connected on back-to-back threes to re-take the lead. Those threes started a 21-5 run for King as they grabbed a 29-16 lead with 9:18 left in the half.

Early in the second half the Warriors cut the deficit down to six but King made too many shots from deep. A quick 8-2 run from King turned a 46-40 game into a 54-42 advantage for the home side. Slowly the Tornado kept adding to their lead, pushing the margin out to 26 late in the second half.

The Warriors return to the court to host Bob Jones in an exhibition on Monday at 7:30 p.m. SWU will host Pfeiffer on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in their final home game of the season.
