Box Score CENTRAL, S.C. - Despite scoring a season high 90 points, the Southern Wesleyan men's basketball team came up short, falling 104-90 to North Georgia Friday night in Tysinger Gymnasium. The Warriors fall to 1-3 on the season and the Nighthawks improve to 1-3.
Freshman Zach Watson led the Warriors in scoring for the third time this season. The shooting guard was 9-18 from the field, making an impressive eight threes en route to a season and career high 32 points. Watson was also a perfect 6-6 from the free throw line.
Kenny Holmes, Justice McCullough and Jemiah Wimphrie also finished with double digits. Holmes, a senior point guard, finished with 14 points in the game while Wimphrie, a junior, notched a double double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. McCullough, a freshman from Lamar, S.C., added 10 points and seven rebounds.
The Nighthawks had five players in double figures, four of which had over 15 points. Ebo Smith and Corey Green both had 19 points to lead North Georgia to the win. North Georgia's bench rallied for 48 points while Southern Wesleyan's added 22 and the Nighthawks shot 57% from the field while holding SWU to just 35.5%. Southern Wesleyan did have a 24-10 advantage in second chance points, thanks to 24 offensive rebounds.
The Warriors return to action Tuesday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m against Erskine. The game, held in Tysinger Gymnasium, will follow the women's 5:30 matchup.
