Box Score TIGERVILLE, S.C. - Thanks to a goal by Sebastian Castro in the the 98th minute of play, the Southern Wesleyan men's soccer team picked up a 1-0 win over North Greenville on a dreary Saturday night. With the win, the Warriors improve to 9-4-1 on the season and 4-3-1 in conference play. The Crusaders fall to 2-11 and 0-8 in Conference Carolinas.
"The best victories are the ones that are hardest to get," said head coach Camilo Rodriguez. "Today we truly won as one."
The teams played 90 scoreless minutes to force overtime. With less than three minutes to go in the first overtime period, Castro scored his fifth goal of the season, second most on the Southern Wesleyan team.
Southern Wesleyan took eight shots in the contest while North Greenville had six, though the Crusaders had a 7-5 advantage in corner kicks. Ruben Rodriguez, the Southern Wesleyan senior goalkpeeper, had four saves in the win.
Southern Wesleyan plays at Erskine Tuesday, Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. before returning home Oct. 31 against Pfeiffer for its final home game of the season. The game against Pfeiffer is homecoming and is senior night for the Warriors.
