Anderson Overpowers Men's Tennis 9-0

ANDERSON, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's tennis dropped their second straight on Saturday, falling to Anderson 9-0.

The Warriors were shutout for the first time in this young season but again showed toughness at the top of the lineup. Camilo Sandoval was the long singles player to take a set, winning the first 7-6 over Juan Carracedo at the No. 1 position. Carracedo rebounded to take the second and third sets, 6-1, 10-7.

Sandoval and Keegan Barkley teamed together at No. 1 doubles but suffered their second straight defeat, 8-3 to Carracedo and Mateo Rivas. Barkley lost No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1 to Rivas.

Jacob Chesney had a strong showing at No. 4 doubles despite falling 6-2, 6-3 to Paul Michael Calhoun. The Warriors were shutout at No.2 and 3 doubles, losing both 8-0. SWU also managed just two game wins combined at No. 3, 5 and 6 singles.

SWU will have a week to regroup before hosting Mars Hill on Feb. 7 at 12 p.m. at Nettles Park.
