SWU Men's Soccer drops second straight, 3-0 to Lees-McRae

CENTRAL, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's soccer dropped their second straight in conference play, losing 3-0 to Lees-McRae at Childs Field on Wednesday night.

The Warriors (4-3, 0-2) had won four straight before dropping the last two by a combined margin of 7-0.  The Bobcats (6-1-1, 2-0-1 CC) got on the board in the 20th minute as James Smith found the back of the net, sliding a ball past SWU keeper Ruben Rodriguez.  James Abraham added a goal in the 38th minute to take a 2-0 lead into the break.

SWU created chances on the night but was unable to score for the second straight match.  The Warriors took 13 shots led by Bruno Liozzi and Alejandro Sanchez's three each.  Liozzi and Joao Oliveira each created an opportunity in the first 12 minutes but Tyler Pavlet made two of his four saves as he preserved the shutout.  His counterpart, Ruben Rodriguez, made seven saves on the night as he faced 18 total shots from the Bobcats.  Galvani was the main attacker with seven shots and five on target, including his sixth goal of the season.

The game was physical all night long with foul after foul. In total there were 41 fouls called, 28 on LMC, and seven yellow cards handed out including five against the Warriors.

SWU hits the road again this weekend, making the longest trip in Conference Carolinas up to Barton College for a 7 p.m. kick on Saturday.
