MOBILE, Ala. – Southern Wesleyan men's tennis picked up another win on Saturday, splitting two SSAC matches in the process.
The Warriors defeated Spring Hill 5-4 after falling to No. 2 Auburn-Montgomery 9-0 earlier in the day. The match against SHC was a continuation after rain halted play on Thursday. The Warriors evened their record at 2-2 overall and 2-2 in the SSAC.
Camilo Sandoval returned to the win column with a victory over Alejandro Hastings of Spring Hill in number one singles action, 5-7, 7-5, 6-2. Loic Delaby and Alex Ballenger were also victorious in singles play at number three and five. The Warriors were also able to take two doubles matches at number one and number two with Sandoval teaming with Matthew Plummer to win 8-6 at number one and Jacob Chesney teaming with Delaby to take number two doubles.
Against AUM the Warriors were outmatched by the second-ranked Warhawks. Sandoval managed to win four games off of Nicolas Pinones, the fourth-ranked player in the country and Chesney fared well at number two singles, losing 6-2, 6-3 against ninth-ranked Zinelabidine Jouini.
SWU is back in action on Saturday, March 1 as they make the short trip to Emmanuel for a match at 2 p.m.
