Liozzi's late goal gives SWU the win over Emmanuel

Box Score

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – A late goal helped Southern Wesleyan escape with a 1-0 victory over Emmanuel on Saturday night, as the Warriors won a matchup of longtime rivals and new members of Conference Carolinas.

Bruno Liozzi recorded his team-leading sixth goal of the season late in the second half as the Warriors broke a scoreless tie.  Liozzi's goal came in the 83rd minute off a free kick as the senior returned after serving a one-game suspension during Thursday's match.

Ruben Rodriguez recorded his fourth shutout of the season, making two stops on the night.  Rodriguez improves to 9-5 on the year and lowers his goals against average to 1.33 for the season.

The Warriors managed 10 shots in the game while Emmanuel was only able to take six.  Liozzi led all players with four shots, putting two on target.

The 1-0 win is the second on the season for the Warriors, after beating Spring Hill by the same margin way back on Sept. 12.  The win boosts SWU's road record to 6-1 on the season.

The Warriors are back on the road for the final time this season on Wednesday, travelling up to Bristol, Tenn. to take on King for an afternoon contest. SWU returns home next Saturday for Homecoming by hosting North Greenville.
