Box Score NEW ORLEANS, La. – Southern Wesleyan volleyball won their second in a row and eighth in nine tries on Saturday afternoon, defeating Loyola (NO) 25-21, 25-22, 25-23 in SSAC action.
The Warriors (17-7, 5-0 SSAC) continued to win behind their high-powered offensive attack. SWU hit over .330 in each set and finished the match at .343 while holding Loyola to a .214 attack. Courtney Williams led the way for the second straight match with 14 kills and a .476 attack. Cherilyn Ramsey added 13 kills and a .391 attack.
The Warriors grabbed the first two sets and looked destined for a fourth after trailing 10-2 early in the third set and then 19-15 before rallying to win their second straight match in three sets. On the season the Warriors have won 12 of their 17 matches in three sets.
Williams was not only a force on offense but also on defense with 10 digs and one block. Kesley Deerinwater added 10 digs for the Warriors. Hayley Hoover added three total blocks and eight kills on 18 attacks; she did not have an attack error. Hoover also had three service aces. Jacinta Hoffpauir was also in double-digits with 10 kills. Megan Widener added 44 assists and two service aces.
SWU stays tied with Spring Hill at 5-0 in the SSAC, Mobile is also undefeated at 3-0.
The Warriors will host conference rivals Coastal Georgia and Brewton-Parker next weekend as they return to Historic Tysinger.
