Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – Southern Wesleyan men's soccer fell behind early and could never recover, losing 6-0 to No. 6 and defending NAIA National Champions, Belhaven on Saturday night.
The Warriors (3-3-1, 0-2-0 SSAC) are winless in their last four matches (0-3-1) after starting the season 3-0. Against the Blazers the Warriors managed just eight shots as Belhaven fired 33, including 18 on goal.
Belhaven jumped on the Warriors early, scoring four goals before halftime. The Blazers notched goals in the 19th and 20th minutes. Nasser Charif scored the first goal followed by David Major. Eduarado Cruz got in on the act in the 31st before Graig McCabe scored just before the break. Lucas Befi and Victor France scored second-half goals for Belhaven.
Ruben Rodriguez made 12 saves in goal for the Warriors while Carl Blundell recorded four in the shutout.
SWU will return home to host Spring Hill and No. 17 Mobile on Friday and Saturday. Both games are slated for 7 p.m. starts and will follow women's games.
