Box Score 4 MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan volleyball wrapped up play in the Milligan Mountain Madness tournament hosted by Milligan College on Saturday. The Warriors split a pair of matches on Friday before winning two on Saturday.
(RV) Bryan College – Lost 3-2 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22, 21-25, 9-15) Cherilyn Ramsey led the way with 15 kills as the Warriors fell to 1-3 in five-set matches. Hayley Hoover added 14 kills, her highest of the season so far. Kelsey Deerinwater was credited with 15 digs and Megan Widener added 41 assists. Courtney Williams added 10 kills.
Hiwassee College – Won 3-0 (25-5, 25-3, 25-7) SWU outmanned the young Hiwassee team – Hiwassee is in only their second year as a four-year school- in three sets. Courtney Willimas led the way with eight kills and two blocks. Hayley Hoover and Kelsey Deerinwater each had seven service aces on the day as Hoover also added five kills. Megan Widener was credited with 28 assists.
St. Catharine College (Ky.) – Won 3-0 (25-18, 25-18, 25-14) The Warriors hit .380 in the match – 46 kills, 11 errors on 92 attacks – in their second straight 3-0 victory. Cherilyn Ramsey led the way with 11 kills while Jacinta Hoffpauir and Hayley Hoover added 10 each. Megan Widener assisted on 39 of the 46 kills. Kelsey Deerinwater dug 15 balls to lead the way. Three players recorded at three block assists as Courtney Williams, Hoover and Ramsey all blocked three St. Catharine attacks. The Patriots hit only .091 in the match.
Milligan College – Won 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-16) Southern Wesleyan continued their hot hitting with a .315 attack percentage in the final game of the weekend, defeating the hosts from Milligan in three sets. Cherilyn Ramsey led the way with 13 kills and hit .571 for the match. She also had three solo blocks. Megan Widener had 37 assists on the team's 46 kills. Tori Wanner joined Kelsey Deerinwater in double figure digs with 10 as Deerinwater led the way with 16.
The Warriors will host Columbia College on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. before hitting the road again next weekend to take part in the Faulkner Invitational.
