Solomon, Holmes Pace Warriors

Box Score

DENMARK, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan men's basketball defeated Voorhees 83-74 on Tuesday night, avoiding dropping their second straight – a feat they have managed to accomplish so far this season.

Cameron Solomon led all scorers with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting from the floor as the Warriors shot 59-percent overall.  The team made 5-of-11 from three-point range, to make up for a 14-of-26 clip from the free throw line.

Kenny Holmes added 26 points to add a 1-2 punch for SWU (6-4).  Holmes added six assists and four steals on the night, playing nearly all 40 minutes.  Solomon didn't just score on the night either, handing out five assists as the team collected a season-high 27 assists on the night.  Jordan Wallace led the way with eight assists despite logging just 27 minutes of action.

Dwayne Bryant played all 40 minutes and collected yet another double-double – his sixth of the season – with 15 points and 13 rebounds.  The Warriors were outrebounded 32-23 but that largely plays into the fact that SWU shot 59-percent while Voorhees shot just 45-percent.

The Warriors led by just two, 38-36, at the break.  The game saw six lead changes and eight ties.  SWU pushed their lead out to 13 midway through the second half as they took control of the contest.

SWU will be back in action this weekend, travelling to Bryan College to play the host Lions on Friday before turning around to play Tennessee Wesleyan on Saturday in Dayton, Tenn.
