Records: Southern Wesleyan University (9-18, 5-14), Chowan University (16-8, 13-5)

How It Happened:

Che Smith, RJ Bell, Reco Hallmon, Ceejay Jordan, and Christopher Osobaye started the game for Southern Wesleyan in Murfreesboro. The Warriors started the game strong on both ends of the floor, scoring the first five points of the game through Bell and Osobaye while holding Chowan without a field goal until the 16:27 mark. SWU held a lead for the first 10:40 but retook it a couple of more times in the half thanks to scoring off the bench from Eric Hackett. He scored 11 of his 21 points in the first half and did so efficiently from all over the floor.

Bobby Taylor started the second half for the visiting team and he scored in the paint to cut the Chowan lead to 3 shortly after the restart. However, the Hawks responded with an 11-0 run that was extended to 16-2 featuring only a bucket from Aaron Tims. After the lead was pushed up to 20, Bell and Tims combined for a quick 7-0 run to keep SWU in it midway through the half. One major area of success for the home team on Saturday was on the glass. They out-rebounded Southern Wesleyan 50-32 and had two players with double-digit rebounds. With just under 4:30 to play, Hackett scored six straight points to cut the lead down to single digits, but Chowan sealed the game with five made free-throws in the final 1:30.

What's Next:

The Warriors' last regular season game will be played on Wednesday, February 26th, at Tysinger Gymnasium against Shorter University.
