Men's Soccer To Play for South Region Title

Box Score

FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan men's soccer continues their march in the postseason after a 2-0 win over Emmanuel in the NCCAA South Region semifinals on Thursday night.

The Warriors (11-6-2) got two second-half goals, the first from Joao Oliveira in the 56th minute and then one from Bruno Liozzi in the 64th.  For both Oliveira and Liozzi it was their fourth goals of the season.

SWU managed just eight shots compared to 20 from the Lions (10-9) but only needed two on the night for their second wins in as many nights and their second win over Emmanuel on their home field this season.  Ruben Rodriguez made three saves in goal after sitting out of Wednesday's contest.

The Warriors will face top seed Shorter in the finals on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Emmanuel.  The Hawks received a bye in the first round of the seven-team field and then defeated Southeastern on Thursday by the score of 3-1.  The Warriors tied Palm Beach Atlantic in the title match last year before failing to advance as the SailFish won 4-1 in penalty kicks.
