Andrade Powers Warriors Past Wildcats

MCKENZIE, Tenn. – Southern Wesleyan men's soccer won for just the second time in eight matches on Saturday, defeating Bethel (Tenn.) University 1-0 on the road in a pivotal SSAC game.

Douglas Andrade provided the game winner with his sixth goal of the season in the 56th minute.  Juan Agudelo provided the assist.  The Warriors (5-4-2, 2-3-1 SSAC) were outshot 27-7 but were the only ones to find the back of the net.

Ruben Rodriguez made 10 saves for the Warriors to earn his third shutout of the season.  Luke Edgecombe made only two saves for the Wildcats.

The win helps the Warriors mightily as they fight for a berth in the SSAC tournament.  The win gives the Warriors seven points, good for sixth place. Only the top eight qualify for the tournament.

SWU will have a week off before taking on Emmanuel in the Lil' Bronze Peach on Oct. 19 at Emmanuel.
