Box Score MT. VERNON, Ga. – Southern Wesleyan scored three times in the second half to earn a 3-0 victory over Brewton-Parker in the Warriors' final road game of the season.
Raul Canelos netted the first goal just two minutes into the second half off a pass from last weekend's hero Joao Oliveira. The goal was the second in three games for Canelos and his second on the season.
Ivan Malagon followed Canelos in the 61st minute with his first goal of the year. Douglas Andrade earned the assist on the goal. The duo hooked up again in the 79th minute as Malagon assisted on Andrade's team-leading ninth goal.
Ruben Rodriguez made three saves in goal for SWU to preserve his fourth shutout of the season. The Warriors (9-4-2, 6-3-1 SSAC) have won five in a row and are unbeaten in their last six matches. The Warriors maintained only a slight advantage in shots at 8-5.
SWU moves into a tie for fourth in the SSAC with Martin Methodist with 19 points. MMC still has two games remaining while the Warriors will finish up at home against Southern Poly State on Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Warriors have assured themselves of a bid to the SSAC tournament but will need two losses from MMC and a win or tie against Southern Poly in order to host a first round game.
