Orangeburg, SC – Southern Wesleyan took down the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Saturday afternoon in a 2-1 final.
The Warriors took three shots on the goal in their victory over the Bulldogs. Lucia Fernandez led the team as she put up two goals in the game. Maya Drew claimed the lone assist. Ester Carabano played all ninety minutes in the goal and collected eight saves.

How It Happened
The Warriors went on the attack early as Maya Drew passed the ball over to Lucia Fernandez. Fernandez collected the ball and drove all the way to the goal where she scored the first goal of the game for the Warriors. The Bulldogs looked to tie the game up as Victoria Coleman put up a shot, but Carabano was able to collect the ball. Southern Wesleyan looked to extend their lead as Jessie Parrott put up a shot, but Jada Gittings prevented the ball from finding the net. Aaliyah Silver scored just minutes before halftime to tie the game up.
South Carolina State looked to gain the lead just minutes into the second half as Ayla Tindall put up a shot, but Ester Carabano was there to knock the ball away. Lucia Fernandez drove to the net and scored her second goal of the game to give the Warriors the lead. The Bulldogs attempted to tie the game up as Vanessa Coleman put up several shots, but none of her shots found the net. The Warriors claimed the game in a 2-1 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will return to Childs Field on September 30 as they host the Emmanuel Lions at 4:30pm. On October 3, the Warriors will travel to Belmont, NC to take on the Belmont Abbey Crusaders. They will then host the Young Harris Mountain Lions on October 6 on Childs Field.
