How It Happened
Emmanuel came out quickly as Leah Chavez put up some attacks on the net, but the Warriors knocked away each of her attacks to keep the Lions from striking first. Emily Lorenzo drove to the net and sent the ball toward the goal, but Ana Ramirez-Cortes was able to knock the ball away. Madison Stanley quickly collected the ball and attempted to get the ball into the net, but her shot just missed. The Lions looked to take the lead, but Ester Carabano was able to collect each of the attacks by Reagan Hill and Sydney Steele. Emmanuel's attacks paid off as Jillian Aldrich scored the first goal of the game.
Southern Wesleyan continued to fight as Ashley Caballero and Jessie Parrott each looked to find the back of the net. However, Ana Ramirez-Cortes would not let the Warriors' attacks get through. Caballero took a corner kick fifteen minutes into the second half. Her cross found the head of Karina Pashkovets who sent it into the back of the goal to tie the game up. The Warriors would not relent as Lucia Fernandez drove to the net, but Ramirez-Cortes dove to the side to knock the ball away from the corner of the net. With just ten minutes left in the half, Sofa Beckford knocked the ball over the head of the Warriors' defense and into the goal to put Emmanuel back on top. However, Southern Wesleyan gained the equalizer with under two minutes on the clock as Ashley Caballero took a corner kick and once again found Karina Pashkovets who headed it into the goal to tie the game. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
