Due West, SC – Southern Wesleyan shut out the Erskine Flying Fleet on Wednesday evening in a 2-0 final score.
The Warriors out shot the Flying Fleet 14 to 9 in their first Conference Carolinas victory of the season. Ramon Estrada had two shots on goal while Mason Councill had the other shot on goal. The Warriors goals came off the feet of Estrada and Councill. Jacob Zuniga and Michael Boyle each had assists in the game. Jonah Keoughan played all ninety minutes in the goal and collected three saves in his second clean sheet of the season.

How It Happened
Erskine went on the attack early as Marcos Martinez Loureiro tried to take advantage of Jonah Keoughan being pulled off of the line, but Oscar Umana got between the ball and the net to thwart the attack. A foul allowed Jacob Zuniga to take a free kick. Zuniga sent the ball into the box where Ramon Estrada headed it into the goal to give the Warriors the early advantage. With just over ten minutes left in the half, Michael Boyle wove around the defense and got the ball between the Flying Fleet's legs to Mason Councill. Councill sent the ball into the right corner of the net for his first collegiate goal to extend the Warriors lead to 2-0 at halftime.
The Flying Fleet looked to cut into the Warriors lead as Connor Blake put up a shot on the net, but Jonah Keoughan collected the ball to keep the Flying Fleet off the board. Sebastian Zumbado took a look at the goal, but his shot flew just right of the net. A foul in the box allowed Erskine to take a penalty kick. Peyton Williams took the shot, but Jonah Keoughan dove on top of the ball to prevent the Flying Fleet from getting on the board. Mason Councill looked to get another goal to his name, but a Flying Fleet player stepped in front of the ball to block his shot. Southern Wesleyan went on to win the game in a 2-0 final score.
What's Next
The Warriors will travel to Ferrum, VA on September 19 to take on the Ferrum Panthers at 1pm. They will then return to Childs Field on September 22 as they host the Shorter Hawks at 3pm. Southern Wesleyan will host Pensacola Christian on September 26. Prior to the game, the Warriors will celebrate their senior class.
