Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan dropped a hard fought match against the Carolina University Bruins on Saturday evening in a 3-2 final score.
The Warriors totaled 17 shots with 10 being on target in the loss to the Bruins. Ramon Estrada and Leonardo Flores each put up two shots on goal. Estrada and Flores each picked up one of the Warriors' goals. Oscar Umana and Sebastian Zumbado each had assists in the game. Luke Bramblett played all ninety minutes in the goal and had four saves.

How It Happened
The Warriors went on the offensive early on as Ramon Estrada and Jacob Zuniga each put up shots, but neither one of their attacks found the net. Southern Wesleyan maintained the pressure as Aron Bjarki Kristjansson, Luis Lezama and Flores put up more attacks, but Isaac Bunton knocked each one of the Warriors' attempts at the lead away. The Bruins fought on as Jordan Julian got the ball past Luke Bramblett to give Carolina the lead just minutes before halftime.
Coming out of the half, Southern Wesleyan quickly went on the attack. Sebastian Zumbado sent a free kick in to the box. Oscar Umana quickly knocked the ball over to the feet of Ramon Estrada who got it into the net to allow the Warriors to tie the game up. The Warriors were not done as Mason Councill rushed down the field with the ball, but once more Isaac Bunton was there. A foul in the box led the Warriors to take a penalty kick. Leonardo Flores came up to the mark and sent the ball into the back of the net to give the Warriors the lead. With just fifteen minutes left in the game, Will McCamley got the ball past a diving Luke Bramblett to tie the game up. McCamley scored yet again a couple minutes later to give the Bruins the lead. Southern Wesleyan would not relent as they put up several more shots on the goal in attempt to regain the advantage, but Isaac Bunton and the Bruins defense were there each time to knock it away. Carolina went on to win the game in a 3-2 final.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will travel to Newberry, SC on September 2 to take on the Newberry Wolves in a non-conference game at 7:30pm. The Warriors will open up Conference Carolinas action on the road on September 5 as they travel Young Harris, GA to take on the Young Harris Mountain Lions.
