How It Happened

Game One

The Warriors opened up the game in the bottom of the second inning as they brought three runs in to score.  Chloe Smith led off the inning by hitting a single into center field.  With one out and Smith at first, an error at second base allowed Abby Schreiner to reach first.  Megan Ware hit into a fielder's choice, but an error on the play loaded up the bases for Maddie Crouch.  Crouch sent the ball into left field for a single to bring Smith in to score the first run of the game.  Riley Brown laid down a bunt single to allow Knop to come in to score.  With one out and the bases loaded, Marissa Moreland hit a sacrifice fly out to left field to bring Ware in to score and put the Warriors on top 3-0.

Abby Schreiner kicked off the fourth inning for the Warriors as she sent the ball over the left field fence for a solo home run.  With one out, Maddie Crouch walked and then stole second base to get into scoring position.  Marissa Moreland came up to the plate and sent the fifth pitch she saw deep over the left center fence for a two run blast to give the Warriors a 6-0 run victory over the Hawks.

Game Two

Southern Wesleyan brought their first runs in to score in the bottom of the first inning.  Marissa Moreland led off the inning by taking first on a four pitch walk.  Moreland advanced to second as Reagan Fulcher hit the ball up the middle for a single.  With one out, Chloe Smith hit a single through the right side to allow Moreland to come in to score.  Olivia Haag's battle at the plate ended in a walk that loaded up the bases for Abby Schreiner.  On a pop up to shortstop by Schreiner, Reagan Fulcher came in to score to give the Warriors a 2-0 run lead.

The Warriors continued their attacks on the plate in the second inning.  With one out, Megan Ware hit a single to third base and then advanced to second as Reagan Fulcher was hit by a pitch.  Rebecca Lamb sent the ball down the left field line for a double to bring both Ware and Fulcher in to score.

In the fifth inning, the Warriors attacked the plate again.  Olivia Haag led off the inning with a walk.  Abby Schreiner came up to bat and sent the ball over the left field fence for a two run home run to extend the Warriors lead to 6-0 and force the Hawks to go to the bullpen.  Abby Lawson hit a single to left field and then advanced to second as Megan Ware walked.  However, Marissa Moreland hit into a fielder's choice that took Lawson off the bases.  With two runners on and two out, Reagan Fulcher hit a double into left center field to allow Ware to come in to score.  Rebecca Lamb put the ball into play, but an error on third allowed her to reach and brought Moreland in to score the Warriors eighth run to win the game.
