Augusta, GA – Southern Wesleyan split the series against the Augusta Jaguars on Tuesday afternoon. The Warriors claimed game one in a 7-6 final before falling in game two 4-0.
The Warriors picked up eight hits in the first game of the day. Abby Schreiner led the team with two hits including a double. Southern Wesleyan walked twice and both Reagan Fulcher and Olivia Haag stole bases. Haag started in the circle and pitched 4.1 innings while striking out one batter. Bailey Throckmorton picked up her first save of the season as she pitched the final two innings.
Regan Fulcher picked up the lone hit of the game for the Warriors. Southern Wesleyan had four walks in the game and Rebecca Lamb was hit by a pitch. Chloe Smith started the game in the circle and pitched five innings while striking out one batter. Anicka McFarland pitched the final inning and struck out three batters.

How It Happened
Game One
The Warriors were first on the board as they struck in the third inning. With one out, Riley Brown hit a single to first base. Brown advanced to second as Marissa Moreland hit a single through the left side of the infield. Reagan Fulcher was hit by a pitch to load up the bases and bring Rebecca Lamb up to bat. Lamb sent the ball up the middle for a single to allow both Brown and Moreland to come in to score. With two outs, a wild pitch allowed both Fulcher and Lamb to advance. Another wild pitch then brought Fulcher in to score to give the Warriors a 3-0 run lead.
Southern Wesleyan continued their attacks on the plate in the top of the fourth inning. Abby Schreiner kicked off the inning by sending the ball down the left field line for a double. McKenzie came in to pinch run for Schreiner. Abby Lawson laid down a sacrifice bunt to allow Babb to advance to third. Megan Ware walked to put runners on the corners and bring Riley Brown up to bat. Brown laid down a fielder's choice bunt. However, a muffed throw by the catcher allowed Babb to come in to score. Regan Fulcher then hit a single through the right side to bring Ware in to score.
The Jaguars brought in their first run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning as a single by Kelsea Moody allowed Nevaeh Ross to come in to score.
In the top of the fifth inning, the Warriors struck again. With one out, Olivia Haag hit a single to short stop. Haag then stole second to get into scoring position. Abby Schreiner hit a single up the middle to allow Haag to come in to score. A single by Abby Lawson put runners on the corners and brought Megan Ware up to bat. Ware ground out to second base to allow Schreiner to come in to score to give the Warriors a 7-1 run lead.
Augusta battled back in the bottom of the fifth inning as they brought five runs in to score. However, the Warriors were able to prevent the Jaguars from taking the lead away. Southern Wesleyan ended up claiming the game in a 7-6 final.
Game Two
Augusta took the first run of the game in the bottom of the second inning. The Jaguars went on to score in the fourth and fifth innings to win the game in a 4-0 final score.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will hit the road to Due West, SC on April 2 to take on the Erskine Flying Fleet. They will then host the Erskine Flying Fleet on April 7 on Varsity Field. The Warriors will welcome the Ferrum Panthers on April 10.
