Central, SC – Southern Wesleyan split the series against the Young Harris Mountain Lions on Wednesday afternoon. After dropping the first game 3-1, the Warriors claimed the victory in game two in a 5-3 final.
Reagan Fulcher, Rebecca Lamb and Abby Lawson had the lone hits of the game for the Warriors. Both Fulcher and Lamb picked up doubles. Southern Wesleyan walked twice and Abby Schreiner was hit by a pitch. Olivia Haag started the game in the circle and pitched all seven innings while striking out four batters.
The Warriors accumulated six hits in the second game of the series. Both Reagan Fulcher and Olivia Haag went 2 for 3 at the plate. Haag doubled twice, and Fulcher picked up one double. Abby Lawson was the lone Warrior to walk in the game and Rebecca Lamb was hit by a pitch. Emily Collins started game two in the circle and pitched four innings. Anicka McFarland came in to pitch in relief and pitched the final three innings while striking out one batter to gain her fifth win of the season.

How It Happened
Game One
The first game of the afternoon started as a pitcher's dual as Olivia Haag and Abbie Burkett battled it out in the circle.
The Mountain Lions were first on the board as an error allowed them to bring one run in to score in the top of the fourth. They continued their attacks in the fifth inning as a ground out by Jordan Morris allowed Shayla Pennington to cross home plate.
Southern Wesleyan cut Young Harris' lead in half in the bottom of the fifth inning. With one out, Abby Lawson came in to pinch hit and hit a single through the left side of the field. Reagan Fulcher drilled the ball to left center for a double that brought Lawson in to score the Warriors lone run of the game.
Young Harris claimed the game in a 3-1 final as Shelby Duncan hit a solo home run in the sixth inning.
Game Two
Southern Wesleyan took the lead in game two as they brought three runs in to score in the bottom of the third inning. Olivia Haag kicked off the inning by hitting a double to center field. Haag advanced to third base on a sacrifice bunt off the bat of Maddie Crouch. With Haag in scoring position, Megan Ware hit a single into center field to allow Haag to come in to score the first run of the game. Marissa Moreland sent the ball through the left side to allow Ware to advance to second. Reagan Fulcher came up to bat and sent the ball into right center field for a double that cleared the bases and gave Southern Wesleyan a 3-0 run lead over Young Harris.
However, in the top of the fourth inning, the Mountain Lions plated three runs off a series of hits by Mallory Clark, Addie Heal and Shayla Pennington to tie the game up at three.
The Warriors were not done though as they regained the lead in the bottom of the sixth. Reagan Fulcher led off the inning by hitting a single to third base. With Chalee Roper pinch running for Fulcher, Rebecca Lamb was hit by a pitch. Haydin Williams came in to pinch run for Lamb to add more speed to the bases. With two out and two on, Abby Lawson walked to load up the bases for Olivia Haag. Haag sent the ball into right center field for a double that allowed both Roper and Williams to score and give the Warriors a 5-3 run victory over the Mountain Lions.
What's Next
Southern Wesleyan will host the Shorter Hawks at Varsity Field on March 28 in a double header beginning at 2pm. They will then travel to Augusta, GA to take on the Augusta Jaguars on March 31. The Warriors will take on the Erskine Flying Fleet on April 2 in Due West, SC.
