How It Happened
Southern Wesleyan went on the offensive early in the game as they brought a couple of runs in to score in the bottom of the first inning. With one out, Raegan Fulcher hit a single through the left side and then advanced to second as Chloe Smith hit a single through the left side of the field. An error by the short stop allowed Abby Lawson to reach first base and load up the bases for Olivia Haag. Haag sent the ball up the middle for a single that brought Fulcher in to score the first run of the game. Megan Ware followed with a single of her own to bring Smith in to score and give the Warriors a 2-0 run advantage.
The Spartans cut the Warriors lead in half in the top of the third inning. Tampa would not back down as they tied the game in the sixth before taking the lead in the seventh off a double by Brumbelow and a triple by Salisbury. The Spartans went on to claim the game in a 4-2 final score.
